Hurricane Isaias to Impact The East Coast

For those that have not heard, we are tracking a hurricane that is currently over the Bahamas. Hurricane Isaias to be exact. (Do not ask me how to pronounce the name). The exact track of this hurricane remains an uncertainty.

Based on the latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center, they expect the worst of the impacts to be along the eastern Florida coastline, as Isaias will likely be either a category 1 or 2 hurricane during this time. Their forecast cone does take Isaias’s track right towards the South Carolina coastline, but the confidence in the track and intensity lessens.

Dauphin County is in the forecast cone, however it is unknown how significant impacts will be across the area. The farther west Isaias tracks, the more it’ll weaken the strength of the storm due to it being over land, but the more rain our area will receive. On the flip side, a more easterly track will allow Isaias to maintain its strength and cause significant damage for Mid-Atlantic and Northeast coastlines, while our area escapes most of the rain and wind.

If our area does receive any impacts from Isaias, it will not be until Tuesday. In the meantime, my focus is on the potential for some severe thunderstorms during the day Sunday. Expect a post on that either tonight or tomorrow morning.
